# Responsibilities Catalog

> Find, add, and maintain every responsibility in your account, and drill down to inspection checklists and checkpoints.

The Responsibilities Catalog holds every responsibility across your company. From here you can also drill down through the catalog tree, from a responsibility to its inspection checklist and checkpoints.

To open it, go to **Account → Readiness → Catalogs**.

## Add a new responsibility

Click **+ Add Responsibility**, enter a name, and save. The new responsibility starts in Draft. See [Managing responsibilities](/responsibilities/managing-responsibilities#add-a-responsibility) for the full steps.

## Responsibility operations

Each responsibility row has a three-dot menu (⋯) with the actions available for its current status:

* **Rename**
* **Delete** (Draft only)
* **Activate**
* **Retire**
* **Reactivate**

For what each action does and when it's available, see [Managing responsibilities](/responsibilities/managing-responsibilities#responsibility-actions).

## Common questions

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Why can't I find a responsibility I just created?">
    New responsibilities are in Draft and may be filtered out of the default view. Check that the status filter includes Draft, or look in the full catalog list. Draft responsibilities aren't visible to employees.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens to badges already issued when a responsibility is retired?">
    Existing badges for that responsibility expire overnight. Badge history is preserved, but expired badges no longer contribute to employees' Readiness scores.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I assign a responsibility directly to an employee?">
    No. Responsibilities always reach employees through the position → role → responsibility chain. Attach the responsibility to a role, attach that role to a position, and assign the employee to that position.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can the same responsibility appear in multiple roles?">
    Yes. Responsibilities are reusable across any number of roles, so a common function like "Health and Safety Compliance" can appear in roles across different positions without being duplicated.
  </Accordion>
