# What is a Coach?

> A Coach is certified by an Architect to inspect other employees on a responsibility and issue Apprentice and Proficient badges.

A **Coach** is a Proficient badge holder who has been trained and certified by an Architect to inspect other employees on the same responsibility. The Coach badge sits at 125% Readiness: above Novice, Apprentice, and Proficient, and below Architect.

## What a Coach does

Once certified, a Coach can conduct inspections and issue **Apprentice** and **Proficient** badges to others. They evaluate each employee's knowledge, abilities, and behavior (KAB) against the standards the Architect has defined in the inspection protocol.

## Coach is per responsibility

Badges are held per responsibility, not per person. The same employee can be a Coach for one responsibility while holding a lower badge, like Proficient or Apprentice, for others.
